Lancashire county council

Under constitution of the UK, most of the momentous decisions are now taken by the cabinet, which under delegated powers. These people make decisions and plans according to the budgetary and policy frameworks set by the full council. Many local committees have also been set up, like Lancashire county council (http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/), to help make decisions and plan local government services. Every county council will be overseen by an Overview and Scrutiny Management Committee and the committees have to account for their decisions, undertake service reviews and make recommendations on future policy options.

The chair of the county council should be responsible for impartially chairing meetings of the full council, promoting the council's activities to the public and representing the council at civic and ceremonial occasions.
